Resident Advisory Committee

The Resident Advisory Committee (RAC) is a new opportunity for Public Housing and Affordable Housing residents and Section 8 participants at HAP. By participating on this committee HAP residents can give their opinions about the work of the Housing Authority. The job of the Resident Advisory Committee is to provide advice around major decisions the Housing Authority of Portland is making.

Read more about what the RAC does in the Overview of Committee Operations.

The committee will be accepting applications for open positions on the RAC in the spring of 2011.

RAC Action
On May 18, 2010, the RAC presented testimony to the Board of Commissioners on the growing problem of bed bugs within housing. The RAC urged the BOC to support work of HAP staff in funding effective treatment practices and creating a stronger emphasis on education and outreach to tenants across all programs: Public Housing, Affordable Housing, and Section 8. For more information contact Melissa Sonsalla at melissas@hapdx.org or call 503.802.8492.
