Imagining Home: Stories of Columbia Villa
A Documentary About Home

Filmmakers Sue Arbuthnot and Richard Wilhelm of Hare in the Gate Productions produced a film chronicling the history, cultural landscape, and social impact of Columbia Villa. Until recently, this public housing community was Oregon's most culturally diverse neighborhood with over 17 primary languages spoken. Through times of economic and social idealism mixed with poverty, social stigma, and crime, Columbia Villa's residents have retained a sense of unity and belonging.

Many organizations and individuals offered invaluable assistance in the production of this film, including the Oregon Film & Video Foundation, the Oregon Arts Commission's Arts Build Communities Program, the Oregon Council for the Humanities, the Regional Arts and Culture Council, the Housing Authority of Portland, community leaders, and the residents of Columbia Villa.

The film is a sponsored project of the Oregon Film & Video Foundation.
