In
addition to competitive wages, the Housing Authority offers an excellent benefits package . An outline of these
benefits is offered below:
Health, Dental and
Vision Insurance
Regular full-time employees and part-time employees working more than
20 hours per week have the option upon hire of selecting one of two health
insurance plans. Health, vision and dental insurance coverage is effective
the first of the month following the date of hire.
Currently, HAP offers medical
and vision coverage through Kaiser Permanente and Providence Health Plans.
Dental coverage is offered through Kaiser and BlueCross BlueShield. Coverage
is available for employees, their families and domestic partners.
Retirement Plan/Deferred
Compensation
Employees become members of Oregon's Public
Employee's Retirement System (PERS) after a brief waiting period.
Employees may also participate in HAP's 457 Deferred Compensation plan,
a tax-deferred retirement savings option available through payroll deduction.
Tuition Reimbursement
Program
HAP believes that providing training and educational opportunities for
all employees will enhance the agency as a whole. Any regular employee
scheduled to work at least 20 hours a week is eligible for the Tuition
Reimbursement Program.
Vacation and Sick
Leave
Sick leave accrues at the rate of 4.34 hours per pay period for regular
full-time employees. Paid vacation or annual leave accrues at the rate
of 3.34 hours per pay period, the equivalent of two weeks per year for
the first five years of employment. Part-time employees accrue sick leave
on a pro-rated basis. In addition, nine paid holidays are granted throughout
the year.
HAP's "Cafeteria"
Plans
HAP offers three benefits through a "Cafeteria Plan." The
first benefit allows for pre-tax payment of any premium contributions
for medical/vision and dental coverage. The second benefit is a
"Flexible Spending Account" plan which allows an employee to use pre-tax
payroll deductions to save up to $2,900 per year toward medical expenses
not covered by health insurance providers. The third benefit
is "Dependant Care" which enables an employee to use
pre-tax payroll deductions to save up to $5,000/year toward day care expense
for children and elderly dependents.
Public Transit Discount
HAP allows employees to obtain a discounted annual
all-zone TriMet
transit pass and pay for the pass with pre-tax dollars through payroll
deductions.
Short-term and Long-term
Disability Insurance
Short-term and long-term disability insurance is available to all regular employees working more than 20 hours per week.
Life and Accidental
Death Insurance
Regular full-time employees are provided with life and accidental death
and dismemberment insurance. HAP pays the full cost of basic employee
coverage with supplemental coverage available for the employee and spouses
or children of the employee at the employee's expense.
Employee Assistance
Each employee has access to (3) free confidential counseling sessions
each year through Magellan Behavioral Services.
Financial Services
All employees are eligible to become members of Advantis or Point West Credit Unions. Bank of
America also offers special benefits to Housing Authority employees.
Our Commitment
HAP is committed to providing equal employment opportunities to all persons
regardless of race, color, religion, ancestry, sex, national origin, marital
or veteran status, physical or mental disability, on-the-job injuries,
age, sexual orientation, source of income, or any other legally protected
status, unless it is a bona fide occupational requirement reasonably necessary
to the operation of our business. For more on our Equal Employment policy, click here.
